Bandido was able to maintain his spot on top of the ROH roster last night, when he defeated Flip Gordon to retain his ROH World Championship. However, there is no time to rest as he teams with Rey Horus to take on former champion RUSH and Dragon Lee tonight in a highly anticipated tag team clash. Many ROH fans are expecting this to be one of the best matches of the weekend, and it’s not hard to see why. These are four of the best luchadors walking the earth today, and should show why tonight. It is under lucha rules, which means non-stop action.
Bandido & Rey Horus Start Off Fast
Rush was right after Bandido, pulling him outside and hitting him with a chair. The wound of losing his championship wasn’t done, but Rush was even grabbing the throat of Dragon Lee when he tried to stop him before they hugged it out. Rush went after Horus on the outside, before helping Lee in the ring with Bandido. A double dropkick nailed Bandido, and he rolled out as Horus came in.
Rush kicked him in the face before Lee nailed a codebreaker. Horus would take some heavy handed chops from both men, before he dodged a dropkick and took Rush down. Bandido got an assist from Horus to hit a hurricanrana before a huge pop up dive onto LFI, and Bandido followed quickly after. Lee was taken into the ring and double teamed into a huge powerbomb, followed by an assisted cutter.
Rush came in and took a superkick, before hitting a shotgun dropkick. Both Horus & Bandido were set up in the corner and they’d tease Bulls Horns but instead hit weak kicks and posed before hitting dives to the outside. Horus was taken out with a Muta Lock dropkick, an old Motor City Machine Guns move.
RUSH Is A Modern Day Warrior
He’d catch Dragon Lee on the top rope, before being hung in the tree of Woe. Bandido took Lee down with the C4, and Rush nailed a huge German Suplex. Horus took a snap dragon suplex, before Bandido hit a pop up cutter to Rush, who came back with a spin kick. Everyone was down, and Lee & Bandido were the first back up.
Bandido hit the X-Knee, before following up with a quick destroyer. 21plex was countered as Lee landed on his feet with Inceration Knee. Horus broke up the pinfall, but almost got Bulls Horns, but instead hit two DDTs. Bandido hit a big splash in the middle of the ring for a two count, and wanted 21plex again but Rush pulled him out.
In the ring, Lee countered a DDT from Horus into a cutter and Rush nailed a big forearm. Rush had a limp but wanted to keep going but was pushed into his partner. Dragon Lee was stranded up top but countered Roll of The King before taking Bandido out with a dive. Horus was in position for Bulls Horns, and that was it.
An absolutely insane tag team match that started at top speed and never once let things slow down. There is respect earned from all sides here, even if they all want to tear each other apart. This was a damn good spotfest tag team match, done by four of ROH’s best. Match Rating: 4.5/5 (**** 1/2)
