It’s rumored that Ari Fletcher has been dropped as a brand ambassador for Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty lingerie brand following controversial statements about domestic violence ideation. The news comes just after it was announced that Rihanna would be opening five Savage X Fenty stores.
Ari Fletcher Gets Into Hot Water on Social Media and Doubles Down
The statements were made on the Don’t Call Me White Girl podcast. If you want the specific moment where the hard brakes sound effect hit many ears, it was clipped courtesy of The Shade Room. Basically, Ari Fletcher described how she wanted her boyfriend—rapper MoneyBagg Yo—to treat her. She describes a situation where if she was to attempt to leave, he would stop her at gunpoint:
Did Rihanna Cut Ari Fletcher As A Savage X Fenty Ambassador Amidst Domestic Violence Comments Controversy
“Like, pull your gun out and show me like, ‘B**** leave. I wish you would walk out the door’.”
Once her comments got around social media, many just weren’t having it at all. People were defending survivors and victims of domestic abuse and pointed out that Ari’s comments basically described a toxic relationship. Fletcher wouldn’t back down from her comments telling people to mind their business and get out of hers.
Has Rihanna Dropped Ari Fletcher from Savage X Fenty
She also got on Instagram Live and telling victims that the couple didn’t care about the plight of victims. Well, all of that obviously didn’t fly with Rihanna, owner of the Savage X Fenty brand and a survivor of domestic violence herself. Ari Fletcher was removed from the site as a model and ambassador which sparked speculation that Rihanna dropped her.
At the moment, no official announcement has been made about her removal from the site. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if that is what happened since this is—and I’ve used this term with the Chris Noth allegation—brand risk material. Rihanna is currently gearing up for her Savage X Fenty stores to open in the U.S with the first store opening in Las Vegas next month.
