Time for another edition of the quick hits! Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here for another episode of AEW Dynamite, a special one at sea no less! As I cover the results of the show live in their own pages, segment-by-segment, I’ll be updating this page as well to give you links to the result of each match as it ends!
Segment 1: The show opened with SCU putting the AEW World Tag Team Championships on the line against Kenny Omega and Hangman Page. Surprisingly, we saw new champs crowned here!
Segment 2: Britt Baker defeated Priscilla Kelly in a fairly short match. The result was somewhat dubious as Britt kicked off the bottom rope to prevent Kelly from getting the rope break. Thus she made her tap out to the Lockjaw. Afterwards, she was interviewed by Tony Schiavone in a Hawaiian shirt. When he questioned the result of the match, she laid into him and made it clear he was lucky to be here, mocking him for his status as a barista at Starbucks before AEW signed him.
Segment 3: The Jurassic Express face off with the Inner Circle in a trios match. It was a fun one full of plenty of occasions in which Marko Stunt almost pinned Chris Jericho! But in the end, of course, the Inner Circle prevailed.
Segment 4: Vignette plays detailing the events in which MJF laid out his stipulations for a match with Cody at AEW Revolution and Cody accepted. MJF then took on Joey Janela in a singles match. Maxwell Jacob Friedman ended up picking up the win, thanks to a little help from Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford. Afterwards, he got on the mic and mocked Cody who surprisingly came out to face him, in spite of the stip that he’s not allowed to touch him before AEW Revolution! But Cody let him know that this was not true for the Young Bucks, who surprised Max with a Stereo Superkick! He then found himself tossed into the pool, where he took a truly cartoonish bump. Beautiful stuff.
Segment 5: Jon Moxley took on PAC in a No. 1 Contender’s match in the main event. Mox ended up taking the win, and is thus going to face Chris Jericho for the AEW World Championship!
