WWE Friday Night SmackDown goes down again tonight! I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and as always you can expect the full coverage from tonight’s show. Below, you will see the results from every segment moments after they conclude, plus links to recaps! Watch this space!
Segment 1: In the opening segment, out came our new WWE Universal Champion Bill Goldberg to what has to be the most boos he’s ever gotten in his entire career. He simply asked “Who’s Next”? Out came Roman Reigns to confront him. He got in Goldberg’s face, the crowd heckled both of them with a “You Both Suck” chant as Roman simply stated, “I’m next.”
Segment 2: Naomi and Bayley were to face off in a singles match but during it, Bayley got on the mic to reintroduce Sasha Banks. Banks then quickly interfered in the match for a DQ, and a gang attack brought out Lacey Evans to make the save, setting up an impromptu tag team match. The babyface team picked up the win, with Naomi pinning Bayley.
Segment 3: Robert Roode faced off with Kofi Kingston. During the match, Roode feigned being attacked by Big E, forcing an unfair ejection. This left Kofi alone and Ziggler’s own interfering cost him the match.
Segment 4: In a very rare Intercontinental title contract signing between Braun Strowman and Shinsuke Nakamura, Sami Zayn spun Braun’s words into making a 3-on-1 Handicap match at Elimination Chamber. Braun now defends against Shinsuke, Cesaro & Sami Zayn. Braun then started a brawl but the heels got the advantage and put him through a table.
Segment 5: Drew Gulak sends Curtis Axel after Daniel Bryan this time around. Bryan has a little trouble with him thanks to Gulak’s coaching, but ultimately puts him away in about four or five minutes. Then out come the Miz and John Morrison to boast about their tag title win, only to be blindsided by the announcement that they’ll be defending them in the Elimination Chamber, against The New Day, Heavy Machinery, Lucha House Party, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode and the Usos!
Segment 6: In a non-title match, the Usos defeated John Morrison & The Miz in a preview of the above mentioned Chamber clash.
Segment 7: To close out the show John Cena came to speak to the WWE Universe. He spoke about how passionate he was about WWE’s future and in that vein, he was betting on the future, this year WrestleMania goes on without John Cena. However, as he made his leave, the Fiend appeared and challenged him to a match at WrestleMania and he accepted!
