WWE Friday Night SmackDown is on tonight. You can see the live results from the show and links to recaps below.
Segment 1: The show began with A Moment Of Bliss with Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross as they welcomed their guest, WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman and asked him about Bray Wyatt. As Braun was describing their history, he noticed a gift in the ring that he assumed was from Alexa, in spite of her confusion. When he opened it up, it turned out to be a black sheep mask, just like the ones Braun used to wear when he was in the Wyatt Family. Cue Bray’s looping laughtrack.
Segment 2: Tamina took on Sasha Banks in a match where winning meant getting a shot at WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley. Bayley tried to interfere but was intercepted by Lacey Evans. This allowed Tamina to get the victory with two straight superkicks.
Segment 3: Lacey Evans made it clear that she wants to continue going after Sasha Banks. Sheamus quickly defeated Denzel Dejournette before expressing displeasure with Michael Cole for trying to put focus on Jeff Hardy yet again. Part 2 of the Jeff Hardy documentary goes into his struggles with drug addiction and even touches on his arrest record. Carmella doesn’t like that Dana Brooke is focusing on her MITB qualifier instead of going after the Women’s tag team titles.
Segment 4: Naomi took on Dana Brook in the aforementioned Women’s Money In The Bank qualifying match. In what has to be considered a major upset, Dana got the victory.
Segment 5: Sonya Deville calls Mandy Rose to the ring. She makes it seem like she’s got this big emotional speech to give her before just calling her the most selfish person she’s ever met, runs her down for always making their tag team about her. Dolph Ziggler gets involved and Sonya ends up attacking Mandy. Otis Dozovic has to come in to run the heels off.
Segment 6: In a Men’s Money In The Bank qualifier, Daniel Bryan took on and defeated Cesaro in a hard fought match, with Drew Gulak preventing Shinsuke Nakamura from interfering in the finish.
Segment 7: The main event saw The Miz defend the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships in a triple threat match that also included Jey Uso and Big E. E ended up getting the victory and the New Day are thus tag champions yet again.
