Jay Lethal was unable to make the finals of the Pure Championship tournament, falling to Tracy Williams in his final match. Tonight, he wants to have another Pure Rules match, but against a fresh face.
That will be ‘The Human Rocket’ LSG, a man who grew up watching Ring Of Honor and Jay Lethal. It inspired LSG to get into the ring, and now he gets a chance to face Lethal, and is ready to prove he is ready. Lethal wants men like LSG in The Foundation, and might take him under his wing like Samoa Joe did for him back in the day.
But that will only come if LSG impresses in this match. LSG is 3-1-1 in singles matches with ROH, Jay Lethal is 16-3 in singles matches in Baltimore alone, showing the gap in experience. Lethal is 4-5 in Pure Rules matches, but LSG has never been in one.
LSG Came To Win
Code Of Honor would be adhered too, and this Pure Rules match would start, and this one had a 15 minute time limit. Lethal would tell LSG to show him what he’s got before taking him to the mat with ease. LSG showed he can hang and got back to his feet, before having his wrist snatched.
He’d be thrown off the ropes, but manage a rollup after countering Lethal, but when it came to technical wrestling? Lethal kept getting on top. LSG’s arm would be cranked, but he’d get free and use his speed to take advantage. He’d get tripped up and nearly put in the Figure Four Leg Lock, and used his first rope break of three.
LSG would take his time to recoup on the outside, and Lethal allowed this. Back in the ring, LSG would throw some strikes and start some brawling before going for a suplex, being hit with a snap suplex and a backbreaker by Lethal instead. Lethal would dig his knees into the back of LSG on the mat, while applying a camel clutch.
Jay Lethal Is In Serious Trouble
LSG would fight up too his feet and launch off some european uppercuts, before going for a cradle pin, but Lethal countered. He’d go for more strikes, and lure Lethal to the top rope before throwing him to the top rope, and dumping him to the mat, then hitting a dropkick through the ropes.
LSG would wait for Lethal to get back in and stomp him into the mat, before we’d go to a commercial break. Coming back, he’d remain in control, having Lethal very well scouted and controlling the neck on the mat. Lethal fought to his feet, only to be sent right back down and hit with a dropkick, before the hold was reapplied.
Again, Lethal fought up but this time stayed on his feet, until LSG regained the cravate. Finally he’d get out fully and plant LSG with the Side Russian Leg Sweep. Lethal would have to catch his breath, but was able to get the hip toss into dropkick, a springboard dropkick on the apron before hitting a suicide dive.
Saved By The Bell…
LSG was sent back into the ring, and Lethal went up top for Hail to The King, but LSG got off the mat. Lethal hopped down and hit a big inverted DDT, but time was running out. LSG popped back up with a lariat, before taking an enzuguri and Lethal went for Lethal Injection, that being countered into a slam and then put into a crossface in the middle of the ring.
Lethal would slip out, but LSG applied a sharpshooter, before turning it into a Muta Lock. LSG would use Lethals own arm to choke him, but Lethal got the rope, and time ran out and went to the judges. Despite having the best match of his career, and holding the advantage in the end, the judges went with Lethal as the winner.
Likely all that swayed the judges was LSG using the first rope break. If he had five more minutes, LSG might have beaten Lethal. Should LSG have been chosen to win this match by the judges? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
