Ever since returning to TV after their loss to The Young Bucks, FTR have been feuding with Jurassic Express. Last time, they exploited Marko Stunt to win a tag team match, but tonight have to leave their comfort zone. Dax Harwood will be in singles action with Jungle Boy.
Cash Wheeler & Tully Blanchard can’t help him either, as they’ll be handcuffed to Luchasaurus at ringside. Marko Stunt was left unchecked, but Jungle Boy has matches with MJF & Chris Jericho under his belt, proving himself a strong singles competitor without needing help.
Dax Harwood Throws Heavy Blows
Jungle Boy & Harwood would lock up, Harwood having the power edge. Despite this, Jungle wouldn’t back down, and used his speed to get a takedown. He’d just keep trying to out wrestle Harwood, but would be grabbed into a headlock. Jungle shoved him off, and took a hard shoulder tackle for his troubles. Another shoulder tackle rocked him, before Jungle wrestled Harwood to the mat and tried to apply the Snare Trap.
Harwood got some advice from Tully & Wheeler, before being pulled back into the ring. He’d get a swift toe kick to the stomach, before nailing some chops in the corner. Jungle came back with some of his own, but Harwood was the heavier hitter. Another toe kick took the wind away briefly, until Jungle got moving and dodged a shoulder tackle in the corner. Harwood hit steel.
Jungle would start to attack that hurt arm, while Harwood threw strikes with the good arm. Harwood grabbed a headlock, only to be hit with a back suplex, Harwood rolling to the outside. Jungle followed him, but was shoved into the barricade as we went to a commercial break.
Jungle Boy Applies The Snare Trap
Coming back from the break, Jungle Boy was looking winded after spending most of the break being choked out. A jawbreaker allowed him to break free, but Harwood threw him back into the corner to try to maintain control. Jungle hit some elbows before taking to the top rope, only to be taken down with a big backdrop down to the mat.
Some boots to the head just served to piss Jungle off, who came back with some strikes. The superkick was blocked and Jungle was punched in the face. Harwood went for a German Suplex, landed on his feet and nailed the superkick, but was leveled with a big lariat. Jungle would counter a tiger driver into a hurricanrana, but Harwood got a powerbomb moments later for a near fall.
Harwood wanted the Dragon Suplex, but Jungle broke free and got the backstabber before taking Harwood to suplex city. A big lariat dropped Harwood, before he’d fake Jungle out and nail an Arn Anderson DDT. Jungle went to the top rope for a crossbody, Harwood rolling through to get a pinfall attempt. They’d trade near falls in a great exchange, showing both men know their stuff on the mat. Jungle Boy would turn a school boy into the Snare Trap, and get the submission win!
While these two will mainly stick to the tag team division, it doesn’t change how good they are in a singles capacity. Jungle Boy is a future AEW World Champion, while Harwood is a modern Arn Anderson. You could almost compare Jungle Boy to Ricky Steamboat as well. This was a great classic wrestling match, with both men coming out looking better than ever. Match Rating: 4/5 (****)
