The conservatorship of Britney Spears is over and only some financial power remains to be transferred but father Jamie Spears still has a few more rounds left in him over the singer’s finances.
Jamie Spears Still Wants Access to Britney Spears’ Estate
It looks as though the elder Spears is seeking access to the pop icon’s finances, according to Variety. He had control over Britney Spears’ estate been 2008 and 2021. Appearing for a hearing via phone, he asked his lawyer to request access to the singer’s estate plan—a request that was soundly shot down.

It was pointed out by the lawyer for court-appointed conservator John Zabel that “In a normal situation, a normal person would never have to show their estate plan.” Looking at what Jamie Spears gained while serving as conservator, he pulled $5 million. The court ordered his daughter to pay him $16,000 a month since 2009—which would account for less than half of the $5 million.
During the process of getting the conservatorship lifted, it was pointed out that there were other expenses that came out of the singer’s estate that weren’t related to his pay or management such as covering both Spears’ legal fees, paying for his office, and getting a cut of her tours and shows.
With the way that the conservatorship was ended and the details that came out about those thirteen years, it was unlikely that the Spears patriarch was going to get access to the estate plan. The court effectively said, “Alright, that’s enough of that, sir.”
We know that Britney Spears is planning to move forward with the regained control of her affairs. All that is left is for conservator Zabel to hand over financial control next month. However, this likely isn’t the last card in Jamie Spears’ hand on this matter.
