An update on the Heidi Fleiss-parrot shooting situation as the retired “Hollywood Madam” sat down with The Pahrump Valley Times and gave her thoughts on the shooting.
Heidi Fleiss Chose Violence Over Prized Birds Being Shot
For over fifteen years now, Fleiss had been living in Nevada’s peaceful Pahrump Valley, a community in the desert. It is there where she seemingly found peace in collecting and raising exotic birds. There has been some trauma such as the birds being attacked by a bobcat owned by someone else.
Heidi Fleiss Wants To “Castrate” the Shooter of Her Bird and for Them to Receive the Death Penalty
Remember, this is a desert community and everyone pretty much minds their own and respects other people’s privacy and the like. Owning a predatory wild cat isn’t particularly shocking. There are probably folks living in the desert with coyotes as pets.
She had raised the bird—a macaw named Chuey—from birth for five years before it was shot in the leg by a pellet gun. With that, she put up a $5,000 reward for the shooter’s arrest and told
In talking with the local publication, Heidi Fleiss said that she wanted the severest of punishments for the shooter—whom she calls a “sick f***”. As a matter of fact, told The Pahrump Valley Times:
“I want to castrate him, I want them to get the death penalty for shooting my little Chuey, who was just flying around doing nothing—and they shoot her. I want them to have the death penalty because everyone in the subdivision knows her and they love her.”
That’s definitely extreme, folk. Interestingly, during her treatment with Dr. Drew Pinsky, he came to the conclusion that it was possible that because of years of substance abuse caused a degree of brain dysfunction that resulted in more empathy towards birds and less towards humans.
So, wanting death and castration for shooting and not killing a macaw—which is still animal abuse—might seem extreme to most but that jump probably seems reasonable for Fleiss.
There is still no update on who shot Chuey and Fleiss still plans to leave for Missouri with her remaining birds next month.
