There is just one more spot left in the Face of the Revolution Ladder match this Sunday on PPV. Tonight, that gets filled. In one corner, we have ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page, who made his debut in the ladder match last year – and he’ll be facing the legendary Christian Cage.
Christian is a man who changed the definition of what a ladder match was back in 1999, and hopes to show that he can still shine in that environment on Sunday. They both made their debut at Revolution last year, and Page tonight wants to prove that he was the ‘Future Hall of Famer’ who made their debut that night,
Hikaru Shida Gets Her Long Awaited Revenge On Serena Deeb
However first, we have the best five minutes of technical wrestling on any AEW show. Serena Deeb has proven her point recently – and that point is that she is the greatest female wrestler on the AEW roster. She can defeat anyone in under five minutes, be it a former AEW World Women’s Champion, or a rookie. Tonight, she once again holds The Professors Five Minute challenge, where her opponent simply needs to survive for five minutes.
Leila Grey would be her opponent tonight, who has had 13 matches in AEW. Grey would hit the outside fast, knowing she just had to run out the clock. Playing cat and mouse could well do that, but Deeb caught her as she tried to enter the ring. Deeb would just get angry over this, and hit a backbreaker using the ropes.
In the ring, Front Chancery was applied and this one was already over. After the bell, Paradise Lock was applied – but Hikaru Shida was back from Japan to get some revenge on Deeb. Deeb had put her on the shelf, and was now being beaten with a Kendo Stick – until she fled into the crowd.
Christian Cage Enters Another Ladder Match
Ethan would take a slap to the face from Christian to start tonight’s main event, which just fired him up as he beat Christian down into the corner. Christian sent Ethan to the outside, before hitting the dropkick through the ropes. Ethan would fire back by tossing Christian off the apron and into the barricade.
This one nearly ended with a countout, but Christian got back into the ring at nine. Ethan hit some mounted punches before throwing Christian out of the ring. Taking time to taunt instead, Ethan missed Christian slipping under the ring and behind him with a school boy for a two count.
Ethan would come back with a delayed vertical suplex, taking time to hold Christian up and flex before dropping him in the middle of the ring. Again this one went outside, and Christian hit a tornado DDT. In the ring, ten punches landed the face of Ethan before a springboard sunset flip for a two count.
Ethan would get dropped with a reverse DDT, but came back with a slingshot cutter. Christian would use the top rope as a weapon before hitting the diving headbutt. Ethan blocked a spear with a shoulder block, but Ego’s Edge failed – and Christian nailed the spear.
Killswitch would be signalled, but Page was able to block and send him shoulder first into the ring post. Ego’s Edge would be set, but Christian blocked into the Killswitch for the win!
