In August 2013, Amanda Bynes‘ mother—Lynn Bynes was granted conservatorship over Amanda temporarily, and it was finalized in 2014. This happened after the American actress had allegedly trespassed on a neighbor’s property and had set fire to the driveway. Following this, all of Amanda’s medical records, financial matters and even personal matters had to be handled by her mother, Lynn.
Court Grants Amanda Bynes’ Request To End Conservatorship
On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, Amanda’s request to put an end to the conservatorship was granted. Amanda had to undergo psychiatric monitoring, and filed the request when she believed she was doing better. Speaking about how she felt upon the Court’s decision, Amanda said, “Words can’t describe how I feel. Wonderful news.”

Tamar Arminak, speaking for Lynn as her lawyer explained that Lynn was “happy and proud” of all Amanda had gone through stating how it has made her stronger. “Lynn is looking forward to Amanda’s engagement and everything that follow, and to having a mother-daughter relationship rather than a conservator-conservatee relationship.” She added.
Amanda met Paul Michael in 2019, and she announced her engagement later in 2020, on Valentine’s Day. Amanda had posted a picture of her ring and captioned it, “Engaged to the love of my life.” About moving on with her life with Paul, a source close to the Actress stated that Paul and Amanda are planning to rent an apartment together and have paid lease.
The source also mentioned that the former child star has plans to make her perfume line grow big. The source described it as “first project to dive into.” Explaining how it was the first project since her conservatorship ended. During the conservatorship, Amanda was not idle; she was a student and in addition, an entrepreneur.
Amanda’s lawyer also revealed that Amanda planned to venture into the fragrance business, in addition to her clothing line. The 35-year-old decided to retire from acting in 2018 as she opened up about her struggles with her mental health. In her request to end the conservatorship, Amanda made it clear that she was fine enough to make her own decisions now.
