Former Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams approached a judge with the intent of having his child support payments reduced. At the moment, Williams has to pay ex-wife Aryn Drake-Lee $40,000 per month.

Page Six managed to obtain the documents of the reduction request which was filed Thursday, March 25. In it, Jesse Williams cites “the fluctuating nature” of his income as the reason for a reduction in payments.
Williams first made his appearance as Jackson Avery in the show’s sixth season in late 2009. He would become a regular cast member in the following season and starred on the show for twelve seasons.
During his run on the primetime drama, Williams pulled in over $6 million and over $180,000 in residuals. Following his departure from the show, he took to Broadway and claims he makes $1,668 a week.
According to the filing:
“The child support of $40,000 per month ($480,000 per year) which commenced October 1, 2019, was based almost entirely on my ‘Grey’s’ episodic fees which was my then primary source of income.”
According to Williams, his children’s lifestyle wouldn’t change dramatically with a reduction in child support as they’ve always lived a “modest lifestyle.” His role as Jackson Avery on the show accounted for “95-percent” of his reputation in acting. Williams claimed that he left the role because he wanted to expand his “body of work before it became too late.”
Jesse Williams married Aryn Drake-Lee in September 2012 before and divorced in April 2017. Over that time, the two had a daughter—Sadie—in 2013 and a son—Maceo—in 2015.
