Selma Blair has opened up on how her father’s former girlfriend had attempted to destroy her career.
Selma Blair Recalls Being Harassed With Letters By Her Late Father’s Girlfriend
Her father is no longer alive, but the memories that were left by his former lover have stayed with her to this day. At the age of 22, Selma went into rehab in order to overcome her drinking problem.
And as part of that process, Selma ended up going on some medication called ‘Trexan.’ But with that, there were side-effects which made her feel ‘rageful,’ to the point where she had allegedly gotten into an altercation with a nurse.
Unbeknownst to Selma, her father witnessed the whole thing. In her book entitled ‘Mean Baby: A Memoir of Growing Up,’ Selma said: “What I didn’t know at the time was that my father had witnessed this entire episode.
“Later, he would use that episode against me.” But once she left rehab, that is when things started to get out of hand.
Selma began to receive a series of letters from an unnamed person, which included falsified information about her having a violence and addiction issues.
The letters had allegedly continued for the next 18 months to the point where Selma admitted that she “was fired from every job I booked.” But after she had gotten the assistance of a private detective, that is when things started to become clearer.
And the findings were shocking to say the least. She added: “He [detective] said the letters were being mailed from my father’s office building in Detroit.
“He gave me a description of the sender that just happened to match my father’s girlfriend at the time, I found out.” Selma has clearly been through a lot in her life.
And her father’s death in 2012 will not have helped the situation. But now that she has come forward and spoken about her struggles, she will be in a better position to deal with whatever will come in her life.
