Keith Lee & Shane Taylor have some bad blood in their past, formerly being a tag team before Lee left for WWE. Lee has gone on to become a star, while Taylor watched and stewed on his anger. Now, they’re going to clash tonight – with Taylor bringing Shane Taylor Promotions ally and rising star, JD Griffey. Lee is forced to team with Swerve Stickland, who he has trouble trusting after AEW Full Gear 2022 – but they generally can get along once the bell rings.
Keith Lee Gets Sentimental With JD Griffey
On their way to the ring, Swerve & Lee seemed to not be on the right page. Swerve would look to start the match with Griffey, who looked more ready for an MMA fight than a professional wrestling match. Griffey would be shoved into the corner, before coming back out with a Rear Naked Choke attempt on Swerve. A snapmare from Swerve again almost ended in a submission, before Lee would get the tag.
They’d meet in the middle of the ring, with Lee able to stand his ground much better than Swerve could. Taylor would tag in and we almost got to see the Pretty Boy Killers clash, only for Swerve to tag himself in. Able to use his speed against the powerhouse of Taylor, cutting him down for the diving uppercut only to be levelled with a deadly lariat.
Swerve would be hit with a leg drop from Taylor on the apron, before Griffey tried for a cheap choke in the corner. Griffey was kicked to the floor, and Swerve gave the tag to Lee. A meeting five years in the making would follow, with Lee & Taylor trading heavy blows in the ring. Taylor would come off the middle rope with a crossbody attempt, only for Lee to catch him with ease – but was unable to follow up with the slam.
Swerve Strickland Walks Out On Keith Lee
Instead Taylor would be able to hit a massive forearm smash before tagging in Griffey. He’d be set up for the Swerve Stomp but avoided before blocking the rolling flatliner from Swerve with a knee smash. Griffey tried to make a dive but was caught by Lee, only to let him down. Swerve would hit a kick to the head on Griffey to the dismay of Lee, before taking a rope hung cutter from Taylor.
Welcome to the Land would be blocked before Griffey hit a knee drop Fisherman Brainbuster. Lee was yanked off the apron as Swerve would get near to a tag, and would go after Taylor instead of making the save in the ring. He’d break up a submission with a middle rope moonsault, reminding everyone that he is in fact – limitless.
All four men would stand in the ring for a brawl, with Lee & Swerve working together to drop Griffey. Taylor would be next, before a miscue caused Lee to knock Swerve out with a rolling elbow. Taylor would hit Welcome To The Land – but Lee was able to kick out somehow.
Swerve would walk away from the match, leaving Lee in a handicap match. Lee would be able to duck a roundhouse kick from Griffey, which took Taylor out before hitting the Big Bang Catastrophe for the victory. Swerve In Our Glory technically wins, but this might have been their final match.
Dalton Castle & The Boys Enter Their Hardest Fight Yet
Gates of Agony is trying to be the dominant force in ROH, and have a chance to claim gold tonight. Led by the cunning Prince Nana – the trio of Brian Cage, Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun will look to take the ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championships from Dalton Castle & The Boys. While Brandon & Brent Tate aren’t the most daunting figures, they form a powerful team alongside the former ROH World Champion – and won’t go down without a fight.
Cage would pay tribute to his mentor Kanyon, wearing Mortis style gear tonight. Kaun would kick things off with Castle, with Castle leaving the ring and getting fired up before running Kaun down with a shoulder tackle. Brandon would tag in alongside Cage, and The Boys would use their speed as they tried to cut Cage down.
Liona & Cage would take out The Boys on the floor, as Kaun hit a powerslam on Castle in the ring. Brandon would hit with a backbreaker over the top rope, before Liona would hit a running senton to set up the superplex from the apron to the ring – Cage making it look easy. Brandon would be able to catch Kaun with a quick DDT, making the tag to Castle. He’d try to cut Gates of Agony down by himself, nailing a series of excellent suplexes before the Deadlift German Suplex on Liona.
Gates Of Agony Claim Six Man Tag Team Championships
Castle would fire The Boys to the floor, before hitting a knee lift on Cage. Liona would get the tag and hit a double Samoan Drop, before Brent used his speed to have Cage take out Liona. He’d be dropped with a slam, before Cage ran Brent down with the Drill Claw. Castle prevented the pin before a twisting bulldog.
Prince Nana would run a distraction, allowing for Castle to be taken out. Brent would be launched up into a powerbomb from Cage, and we have new ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champions. This is going to be a very hard trio to defeat for those belts, as proven by tonight’s dominant performance.
