OVW (Ohio Valley Wrestling) Celebrates 1200 Episodes
He closed it out by hoping they can reach 1500 episodes. With the gauntlet thrown down, we can’t wait to see what comes next for the company.
This is where the future has happened for nearly 30 years since “Nightmare” Danny Davis founded the company in 1993.
Some of the best minds in wrestling played a part in the company. Jim Cornette brought many great names to OVW during his time there and while they’ve gone on to glory in the WWE, there’s no denying the part OVW played in their career.
Growing brand
Since Al Snow bought the company in 2018, it’s become an accredited school that counts toward college for those wishing to become a wrestler as well as cementing themselves as one of the top Indie promotions.
OVW has grown from being a developmental territory into an independent company that welcomes back older veterans to help further establish the brand as well as help the younger talent to build their future.
One of those is Impact Wrestling great James Storm, who is the current OVE National Heavyweight Champion.
In 2021, Craig Greenberg and Kentucky Sports Radio host Matt Jones led an investment group that bought the majority investment of OVW, with Al Snow remaining in charge of the day to day workings of the company and the wrestling product.
The goal is to continue growing Ohio Valley Wrestling and the Al Snow Wrestling Academy online and through events.
It was recently announced that OVW signed a deal with Netflix to broadcast a behind the scenes reality series on the inner workings of OVW.
It’s been reported that the show will focus on following OVW talent during the summer as it’ll pull back the curtain like the WWE has done over the years.
The talent have reportedly made filming this a priority over booking, so it should make this an entertaining experience for fans and talent alike.
