AEW Dynamite comes to us again tonight. Below you will see the results and recaps of the show, segment by segment.
Segment 1: Jake Roberts once again accuses Cody of being a coward trying to duck Lance Archer by ensuring that the two of them are on opposite sides of the bracket. Lance Archer comes out to squash a man who I believe was called Alan Engles.
Segment 2: Hikaru Shida took on Britt Baker in a major match within the women’s division. It was a physical match that saw Baker’s nose get busted and bloodied badly. It wasn’t easy but Shida got the victory in the end, her eighth win in her last nine matches.
Segment 3: A vignette plays featuring interviews from Jake Hager and his wife and Jon Moxley, leading up to their No Holds Barred match next week.
Segment 4: The Best Friends took on Kenny Omega and Michael Nakazawa in an unusual match-up in which, should Kenny and Nak have won, they would’ve become known as the Best Friends instead. It was a chance for Kenny to show off his DDT wackiness a little bit, since that’s Nakazawa’s specialty. But in the end, the Best Friends got the victory, allowing them to keep their name and likely putting themselves in contention for a shot at Kenny and his regular partner Hangman Page for the AEW Tag Team Championships.
Segment 5: Another Brodie Lee video airs. He berates some of his underlings for not being well-dressed enough. He takes one of them, who happens to be in a dress shirt and tie, and takes them into a building with him, an AEW logo n the door. We hear more from Hager and Moxley as they really try to give the hardsell to next week’s title bout. Matt Hardy runs down every member of the Inner Circle before challenging Chris Jericho to come to his compound and face him in the Elite Deletion!
Segment 6: Brodie Lee takes on Lee Johnson and defeats him in very short order. In the main event, Cody took on Shawn Spears in the first round of the TNT Championship Tournament. Shockingly at the end, Spears kicked out of two consecutive Cross-Rhodes! And perhaps even more shocking, Cody then pinned him with the Figure Four Leglock, something that’s been oft-attempted but very rarely achieved!
