It was around this time that the former World Wrestling League (WWL) – now La Liga Wrestling – was at the peak of Lucha Libre in Puerto Rico. The World Wrestling Council (WWC) was still going through a transition phase with the Colon cousins, while IWA PR slowly faded away on its nostalgic tour. WWL had the best local talent, plus, undoubtedly, the best fighting quality. The company was making a profit or at least recouping its event expenses; 2019, like 2018, was for La Liga. 2020 came with the same airs of success that WWL had managed to overcome.…

Last week, we reported on the possibility that wrestling could come back to Puerto Rico, especially WWC and IWA PR. I wrote that it was a good idea. But, the story at the time was, if the cases kept going down, then a return in August was plausible. Now, Puerto Rico is experiencing an increase in Covid-19 cases. The island now gets 200 to 300 cases daily. This, in contrast, with the lesser numbers that the island was getting in this past month. World Wrestling Council (WWC) was supposed to make some adjustments and return mid-August. They were in contact…

Chicano, El Ilegal, is arguably one of the best Puerto Rican wrestlers of the past 15 years. An IWA-PR Original, Chicano has wrestled in the best matches on the island in recent years. Originally starting in International Wrestling Association (IWA PR), Chicano evolved from a Junior Heavyweight to one of the best Heavyweights on the island.
