Taichi is no longer in the running to make the finals after his recent loss to Tama Tonga, but tonight is a more direct path to a title shot. Jay White has been perfect in this tournament, coming into tonight with a 4-0 record, and that means he’s currently got no one gunning for a shot at his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Taichi has a golden ticket in grasp tonight, and just needs to defeat Switchblade to claim it. White has Tama Tonga as his final match, the man he booted from BULLET CLUB – and who has revenge in mind.
Taichi Enters The Biggest Match Of His Tournament
Taichi would be able to shove White into the corner as this match began. He’d allow the clean break, and called for a Sumo Match in the middle of the Professional Wrestling Match. White would seemingly play along, before going after the eyes of Taichi and driving him into the corner. Taichi would be hit with some clubbing blows in the ropes, before White would slip in and out of the ring to gain control of the match.
Taichi would grab the throat of Gedo on the apron, trying to remove him as a factor – before White would attack from behind. White would choke Taichi on the floor with the camera cables, before having the audacity to tell Miho Abe to shut up. Taichi would be suffocated with the ring skirt, before White would question why the referee refused to count the pinfall.
White would keep the pressure on Taichi with a rear chinlock in the middle of the ring, before losing grip. He’d miss the chop in the corner, before getting kicked right in the face with the Gamiguri. Taichi would enjoy some control and would nail some leg kicks, which set up the mid-kicks, before the Kawada Style Hook Kick. White would block the Dangerous Backdrop, and took a knee rattling kick in the process.
Jay Whitee would be able to catch Taichi with the Death Valley Driver, but the kicks to the legs were starting to add up in damage. Blade Buster would land, and White was slow on following up. Uranage would land, but Taichi was able to kick out before two.
Jay White Remains Perfect
Axe Bomber would be avoided, but the leg kick would again hobble the champion. At ringside, Gedo would attack Miho Abe – yanking her by the hair. White would take advantage of this distraction with a backdrop, before mocking Taichi for not being able to save her damsel in distress. Taichi would fire up through the chops of White, and would level him with an elbow strike.
He’d go to ringside and save Miho, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru would risk fines by leaving Japanese commentary to help deal with Gedo. A double lariat to White & Gedo would set up the Last Ride Powerbomb for a near fall. White would cower on the mat before the Buzzsaw Kick would land, only to set up the Sleeper Suplex. Taichi popped right back to his feet, and nailed the Dangerous Backdrop for a two count.
Black Mephisto would be blocked, before Gedo would run a distraction. This would almost see Taichi walk into the Blade Runner, but he’d send White to the mat for the Gedo Clutch. White would be able to kick out, before being tossed to the mat and nailed with the Yokozuna Elbow – which somehow didn’t end this match.
Black Mephisto would almost be blocked into the Blade Runner, only for White to take the Dangerous Backdrop. Taichi was unable to follow up with a cover, and would be nailed with Blade Runner. White was exhausted and couldn’t make the cover, and would set up a second Blade Runner to ensure Taichi stayed down. He’d use the ropes to get to his feet, and this one was over.
