As much as EC3 likes to preach about ‘controlling his narrative’ and ponder if ‘honor is real’, these are questions and concepts that don’t bother Jay Briscoe. He’s controlled his narrative since day one, and never sold out to a company like WWE. Jay Briscoe has fought the best in the world in ROH, and often came out on top. So when EC3 came into the company and demanded a handshake from Briscoe, he didn’t get it. He needs to earn it, and tonight is his chance to do just that.
EC3 Wants To Outwrestle Briscoe
EC3 came to the ring in the best shape of his career, clearly having spent some time away from the ring working out. But being a body guy alone won’t be enough to beat Jay Briscoe, and he still won’t look him in the guy. EC3 just wanted this handshake, and got pie-faced twice before grabbing a headlock.
Briscoe took a heavy shoulder tackle before coming back with a pump kick which EC3 dodged. EC3 applied another headlock, and was able to take Briscoe down to the mat. Briscoe would fight to his feet, only to be smacked down again and have the hold reapplied.
EC3 was in the head of Briscoe at this point, and Briscoe hit some shoulder tackles before a hurricanrana. Now Briscoe was wrestling, and EC3 decided to start brawling instead, hitting the Thesz press with some punches. A back elbow and an aggressive headlock, before letting Briscoe free to hit a knee to the midsection.
Another headlock applied, and Briscoe countered into a Northern Lights Suplex. Briscoe hit some chops but missed a dropkick before EC3 hit a powerbomb. EC3 ripped Briscoe off the ground for this powerbomb too, an insane show of power.
Jay Briscoe Starts Beating EC3 Down
Briscoe broke another side headlock attempt from EC3, before walking into the TKO. EC3 didn’t go for the pinfall, and instead ran into a flatliner to the middle turnbuckle. Briscoe hit some rabid uppercuts before a dropkick, and EC3 was sent to the corner for some punches to the temple. He’d nail a running big boot next, sending EC3 to the outside.
Briscoe came off the apron with a lariat, and landed bad on his knee. EC3 took advantage and threw Briscoe into the ring post, only to pull him back up to the apron. Briscoe fought back and went to the top rope, only to be pulled down. EC3 laughed at Briscoe on the top rope, before taking him down with a superplex.
Briscoe was slow back to his feet, and took a chop block from EC3 when he was back up. EC3 hit some elbow drops to the leg, before looking for a figure four. Briscoe kicked EC3 off but EC3 came back with a lariat and the Angle Slam. EC3 hit a nasty brainbuster, but didn’t go for a pinfall.
Respect Was Earned
Briscoe fought back again, before being put on the middle rope for another superplex. EC3 wouldn’t get it again, and Briscoe instead hit a Death Valley Driver on the apron. Back in the ring, Briscoe hit a big boot before setting up a hangman’s neckbreaker. A second one landed, and Briscoe was setting up for that J-Driller. EC3 tried to counter the third, but failed.
EC3 was choked on the ropes, before coming back with a unique variant of an STO, but couldn’t follow up. He wanted a Death Valley Driver, but Briscoe got another instead in the middle of the ring. EC3 slowly sat up and took a boot to the face, before laughing. Another boot, and more laughing, apparently having fun.
EC3 pounced back in with another Thesz press, before Briscoe hit a forearm and another boot to the face for a near fall. Once again, EC3 offered the handshake, and Briscoe accepted but got a J-Driller as well. After the bell, they’d shake hands again.
